Sissi the Empress (1955-1957)
Following the release of Sissi’s new version “The Empress” on Netflix which I watched, I found it much more modern and dark, taking into account historical facts. Elisabeth has character, is fierce, free and rebellious. I prefer Sissi from my childhood, played with great delicacy by Romy Schneider. I find her radiant every time. That’s why I rewatched it and I’m sharing with you my favorite part of this saga. These summer vacations have been brightened up by the filmography of Leonardo DiCaprio. Groundhog Day (1993)
I saw this movie again trying to make my daughters discover it but they were not interested that day and so it will be for another time. It’s always a pleasure to see this timeless cult movie again, with a beautiful love story on a background of existential questions about the meaning of life and being! I often listen to this youtube channel which offers compilations of random Chinese music from the 70s, 80s, 90s from Taiwan. Some of the songs move me and make me feel very nostalgic about my “old time” pleasures related to my life in Tahiti and Taiwan.
