    City Hunter (2024)

Finally ! The real City Hunter! It was about time that Japan started making a live adaptation of the City Hunter manga. The best adaptation was that of 2018 by Philippe Lacheau. It is a successful adaptation although it left me with an unsatisfied taste because there was not this particular atmosphere specific to Japan but above all I did not find the actor handsome. I saw it more as a good French comedy and a version adapted for those who are nostalgic for the Club Dorothée generation. So when I saw the trailer for City Hunter, I was excited to feel all that euphoria from the old days when I…

    Voleuses (2023)

English title : Wingwomen I had a nice surprise when I watched this film when it was released on Netflix. It is a friendly and entertaining action film telling the story of two thieves, Carole and Alex, and their driver Sam. This film is an adaptation of the comic book series “La Grande Odalisque” by authors Jérôme Mulot, Florent Ruppert and Bastien Vivès. I didn’t know this comic strip but I was able to see a few plates on the web, and I found that it was adapted to the cinema. This film is very entertaining, touching and made me smile. It’s a film that had a big impact on me…

    Crash Landing on You (2019)

[K-Drama] Crash Landing on You – 16 episodes – Netflix A little personal aside This drama has a very special place in my life. I watched it during my dark night of the soul period caused by the twin flame journey. I thought that watching this drama could make me change my mind, especially since it was my brother who recommended it to me (and coming from him, I know that I will always like it) in addition to liking the actress Song Ye Jin. This was not a good idea at all, this drama devastated me since it acted as a mirror linked to my love story with my…

    Sissi the Empress (1955-1957)

Following the release of Sissi’s new version “The Empress” on Netflix which I watched, I found it much more modern and dark, taking into account historical facts. Elisabeth has character, is fierce, free and rebellious. I prefer Sissi from my childhood, played with great delicacy by Romy Schneider. I find her radiant every time. That’s why I rewatched it and I’m sharing with you my favorite part of this saga. This saga is inspired by the life of Empress Elisabeth of Austria and Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria, whose marriage took place on April 24, 1854 in Vienna. There are three films, directed by Ernst Marischka: Sissi (1955), Sissi…

    Titanic (1997)

These summer vacations have been brightened up by the filmography of Leonardo DiCaprio. I took the opportunity to ask my daughters if they had seen Leonardo DiCaprio young and handsome (that’s the little girl I was talking about)! That’s how I saw this movie again with great pleasure: Titanic. Moreover, I have always liked narrative films. Here, it is Rose who tells us her personal story. It is a very beautiful film, romantic and sublime with memorable characters! It’s a romantic film about the sinking of the Titanic on the night of April 14-15, 1912. So bring tissues!!! It is a titanic challenge that James Cameron has accomplished with a…

Fanfan (1993) & Reflection Twin flame

A symbolic birthday gift On my birthday, I spotted this book “Fanfan” in the Emmaus village. It came to me naturally, the image immediately caught my eye among so many books searched by my friend. This is not the first time I have seen this image, I have a feeling of déjà vu. I know what it means to me, it’s telling me to let go or to come out of my chrysalis state. So when I found out the title of the book as well as the summary, I knew I had to pick it up because it reminded me so much of my twin flame. Only nineteen, Alexandre…

    Groundhog Day (1993)

I saw this movie again trying to make my daughters discover it but they were not interested that day and so it will be for another time. It’s always a pleasure to see this timeless cult movie again, with a beautiful love story on a background of existential questions about the meaning of life and being! Phil Connors is a weatherman who every year for the past 4 years has to go to the Groundhog Festival in the town of Punxsutawney. The fact of interviewing the groundhog does not delight him at all and he has only one desire it is to leave very quickly this city of rednecks. He…

    The Giver (2014)

It’s a science fiction movie that marked me a lot because it was for me a very good emotional inducer. That’s what I expected from cinema, that it would make me feel a lot of emotions. This film made me want to be alive more than ever and to listen to my emotions! The story is set in a distant future, in a community where free will does not exist, where life is tasteless, where we all dress the same. Moreover, the future of each citizen is programmed for a very specific profession according to the qualities of each of them that were observed during their childhood. All the inhabitants…

The Rai and Mana series (2014) – Polynesian culture

I love this comic duo from Bora Bora, Rai (Yves Edouard Malakai) and Mana (Manuel Marii Dany). They were inspired by their job in the hotel business to make these series of sketches of their daily life. We can thus see the essential of what it is necessary to know of the Polynesian culture. They make me laugh a lot and it’s a pleasure to hear Tahitian words. The secret of their success: it’s the desire to make people who are not in good spirits laugh! And I think they are good at it because there is this good-natured simplicity that I find nowhere else but in my fenua 🙂…

    The 7th Voyage of Sinbad

I’m going to tell you about a very old movie that marked my childhood and that I always enjoy watching again when I’m taken by a sudden nostalgia. The special effects are outdated but I still find a certain charm in it. Like for example, when I see this nice painting of Sinbad’s ship, it made me dream of adventures as a child 🙂 There are other shots of images that amazed me. I sometimes like to remember that strong sense of wonder when I first saw this fantasy world come to life on the screen. I found it so spectacular. So I was very happy to be able to…
